    Situation Overview and Highlights

    • As of July 21, CrowdStrike continues to work on restoring all affected systems. While roughly 8.5 million devices were impacted, CrowdStrike has stated that a significant number are back online. It is unsure when all devices will be back and operational.
    • As of July 22, CrowdStrike is conducting tests on a new technique aimed at expediting the remediation of impacted systems. Additionally, due to the fix requiring hands-on updating, CrowdStrike has also published a video outlining the steps remote users can take to repair their own impacted systems. 
      • Microsoft has also released their own updated recovery tool with two repair options. The detailed recovery steps can be found on their support page. 

    Impacts to Healthcare

    • Laboratory Services 
      • As of July 21, Labcorp stated that all the systems that were impacted by the Microsoft outages are currently back online. They are continuing to resolve spot-issues with retrieving orders at some of their patient service centers and in-office labs.
      • As of July 21, Quest Diagnostics stated that nearly all systems impacted by the outages have been restored and they welcome patients to visit their service centers starting Monday, July 22.
        • Quest Diagnostics is receiving and processing results from hospitals and physicians. If there are lasting issues, they recommend that hospitals contact their service representatives or 1-866-MY-QUEST.
    • Government Services
      • The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) states that cyber threat actors are exploiting the outage to carry out malicious activities, such as phishing attempts. CISA continues to collaborate with CrowdStrike and other private sector and government partners to actively monitor emerging threats. 
      • As of July 23, the House Oversight Committee has received a briefing from Microsoft and is scheduling briefings with CrowdStrike and CISA separately.

    Supply Chain and Logistics

    • Supply Chain Logistics
      • FedEx stated that its network was now operational across the globe. They’re continuing to work to lessen the service impacts from the outage. 
      • Since the outage starting last Friday, there have been over 3,500 Delta flights cancelled. Among the major airlines, it seems that Delta has been impacted the most.
